What is Un-Thai'd?

At Sage Bodywork, we know you expect our services to be a cut above the rest, and our take on Thai-Yoga is no exception!  We proudly offer you our Un'Thai'd service, a "punny" but fitting name, pronounced "un·tied", defined by Merriam-Webster as "to free from something that ties, fastens, or restrains" and "to disengage the knotted parts of".  We crafted Un-Thai'd with exactly that goal in mind!

 

Un'Thai'd combines the best of the ancient elements of Thai-Yoga with some modern twists cherry-picked from Reiki, Yoga, and Stretch Therapy, all wrapped up in a customized package that delivers an experience that honors tradition yet serves a contemporary client.  

 

What are the benefits of Un-Thai'd?

A combination of the benefits attributed to Thai-Yoga, Reiki, Yoga, and Stretch Therapy, which may include: improved flexibility, increased range of motion, balanced flow of energy throughout the body, stress reduction, a calm mind, improved circulation and lymph flow, improved sleep, reduce severity of headaches, an energized feeling, decreased muscle pain.

In line with Thai tradition, we offer services on a kapok-filled Thai Mat and techniques are applied with no need for oils or lotion. Pillows and cushions are used to ensure your comfort during the service.  You wear workout-style clothing or yoga gear to ensure your provider can apply techniques safely and move you easily.  The majority of positions and stretches allow for you to relax and enjoy effortlessly, but some of the moves require a bit of participation (wrist holds, seated positions, 

 

Thai-yoga has also been called "lazy man's yoga" because it incorporates many of the best stretches of yoga without all the work of doing them yourself! 

 

Your experience begins with gentle compressions and rhythmic movement, assisting the flow of blood to the muscles and warming up the tissues.  As your therapist guides your muscles into a state of warm relaxation, the movements are enhanced with stretches and range of motion, always to your comfort level and in an effort to maximize your flexibility.  The majority of positions and stretches allow for you to relax and enjoy effortlessly.  Pillows and cushions are used to ensure your comfort during the service.  

 

Although most people would benefit greatly from Thai-Yoga Mat massage, due to the positioning and movement inherent in the service, we do not recommend it for pregnant women, elderly, people with osteoporosis or blood clots, or anyone who has a condition or is taking a medication which impairs tactile sensation.
